In Random Recast, I find new ways to upgrade the ordinary things in our lives. This week, it's all about coffee filters.

This wreath offers a new take on the usual front door decoration. I like this one because it gives the dimensionality that you'd get from a floral wreath, but without having to care for fresh or make do with fake. Of course, you'll want to bring this one indoors on a rainy day.

You also don't have to settle for plain white. Coffee filters are pretty easy to tint. (In fact, when tinted, the paper stiffens, which will ultimately give you crisper ruffles.) Just apply watercolor paint with a wet brush or dip in dye. You could also use a light coat of spray paint for a more intense hue.

To create the wreath, simply bunch coffee filters and hot glue to a wreath form. Here's a more expansive tutorial. Or, simply order one already made from etsy artisan SweetLillyDoodles.
