Ali MacGraw Looks So Good In Short Shorts Back In The Day (PHOTO)

Short Shorts Never Looked So Good
|

Most know Ali MacGraw as a talented actress who appeared in films like "Goodbye, Columbus" and "Love Story," but this gal is really a fashionista at heart. She began her career as a photo assistant at Harper's Bazaar (working under the legendary Diana Vreeland), then tried her hand at modeling and even spent some time in the hallowed halls of Vogue as a stylist.

To celebrate MacGraw's 74th birthday (on Apr.1), we are taking a look back at an old photo of the star. In this 1970 photograph, we see the icon on her way to a Hollywood Foreign Press Conference in a monochromatic look. We love how she mixed different textures to add visual interest to her outfit: Her boots are suede, her shorts are velvet and her sweater appears to be a light knit. Her dark brown bag is a nice contrast to the otherwise light-colored look, and gives it a very all-American feel. MacGraw gets a perfect score for this ensemble -- and can we also say that short shorts have never looked so good?
