Don't Forget to Forget

It was important; I need to remember it! Well, that was my thought then anyway. I knew if I didn't write it down it would be lost. I meant to write it down... maybe I did? But that was eons and weeks ago. So the question becomes, do I search for the paper that might not exist, or try to search some other way to try find it? How could I be so dumb? But really I don't think I am all that dumb" I dun got me a few of dem fancy coledge deeplomers. It's just that every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain, that's all.

We all forget stuff, important and not. We usually don't forget the really important stuff but anything below that is fair game. Birthdays, phone calls, where our car keys are and even where we parked. Some days I think I forget more than I remember. I had a full schedule of new appointments yesterday and by the last one, I had to check my notes to make sure I didn't forget their name.

But as annoying as forgetting things is, and it is maddening sometimes, I am grateful for forgetting. I really don't want to remember a whole bunch of stuff. We all have lots of big insults and injuries in our past that we try hard to forget. And most days we can... or at least, ignore them. But there dun be a bazgillion other things that didn't go quite right that we thankfully forget.

So every time I forget something, I think well, there is something that didn't fit. An idea whose time has passed or hasn't come yet. If it wasn't important enough to remember, than it must not be important. If I stop and try, take a breath, a solution will come. The keys are here, the call will get made, and things will move on. Why worry about what we forget? Just let it be forgotten. If it's important, it will stick around. And the rest, dun let it be done.
