Street Style: New Yorkers Love Their Summer Neons And Neutrals (PHOTOS)

New Yorkers Clearly Love Neons & Neutrals
|

Most of the women I shot on the streets of New York--from SoHo to the Upper East Side-- have chosen a bright color for either the top or the bottom, but why not do both? If you're so inclined, you could color-block two bolds, such as the pink and green that Jordana is sporting in the slideshow below. She tells us “it’s how you wear it, not what you’re wearing!”

The totally neutral look is also great for summer and easily layered, as Goldie has shown us. However, it’s worth noting that the color should be slightly different than your skin tone to avoid looking, well... naked. The light fabrics Goldie has paired keep the look from having the bulky feeling of a winter wardrobe. However, it is still common to find blazers and summer sweaters to finish a look. Kerilyn suggests that you have to “trust the process. If you have things that you love and trust the process of getting ready in the morning, you’ll look good. Let yourself have fun with what you have.”

Pastels are often incorporated to give a light, airy feeling that is necessary for the warm weather. Including black in your summer wardrobe is a great way to help pastels make a statement, like Sarah did with her shorts and sandals. And the way to uniquely finish any outfit is to add a pair of unconventional shades. So put down those Ray-Bans and get creative!
