The National Magazine Awards (aka the Ellies) put out its list of finalists for the 2012 awards today, and we were stoked to see two of our favorite fashion tomes nab nominations for their photography.

Vogue and W are both nominated in Feature Photography for "Lady Be Good" and "Planet Tilda," respectively. Vogue's spread, shot by Steven Klein for the March 2011 issue, stars Amber Valetta and her son, and W's puts Tilda Swinton out in the desert for a series of deliciously eerie stills in its August 2011 issue.

In addition, W is up for best women's magazine and Vogue is up for best photography overall. Mazel tov!
