There's something great about enjoying a homemade cocktail when the weather is warm outside. And while some of us can make this happen with our well-equipped home bars, most of us own only a half-finished bottle of vodka stashed in the freezer (and maybe some juice in the fridge). If you're of the half-bottle vodka kind, you've got some work to do to achieve a good homemade bar. But don't despair, it can be done.
You'll want to stock up on a variety of liquors, make sure your fridge is full with mixers and having a few garnishes on hand is not a bad idea either. But more important than any of those things, you'll want to make sure you know the terminology involved in tending bar. Because understanding the difference between a whiskey up and a whiskey straight up, means the difference between making a good drink and a not so good one.
Take the quiz below and see if you're up to speed on your bartending terminology.
