SPAM(01 of12)

No doubt Crystal Harris has heard of Monty Python's "Spamalot" -- as well as the junk email or "spam" that clogs her email's inbox. But when Hugh Hefner was a boy, the canned meat product kept U.S. troops fed and healthy. (credit:AP)
The British Invasion(02 of12)

Thousands of fans rushed to JFK Airport to greet these four mop-haired lads on February 7, 1964 -- when Hugh was 38 and Crystal was 22 years away from being born. (Hugh may have to explain that The British Invasion has nothing to do with the boy band One Direction.) (credit:WikiMedia)
Typewriters(03 of12)

There was just something about that clicking of the keys that many post 50s -- especially writers -- find unforgettable. Indeed, after their invention in the 1870s, they became indispensable tools for almost everyone. Apple's first Macintosh computer was released in 1984 two years before Harris was born. (credit:Alamy)

Before the Playboy Bunnies, there was a major sex symbol born the same year as Hugh Hefner known as Marilyn Monroe. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, she was featured in "Playboy's" first issue in 1953. (credit:Alamy)
The Civil Rights Movement(06 of12)

In the 1960s, Hugh Hefner personified his men's magazine, the urbane sophisticate in the silk smoking jacket. At the same time, the Civil Rights movement was heating up, including that historic moment in which seamstress Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus (shown in the photo) to a white passenger. In the 1950s, or more than 30 years before Crystal Harris was born, women often wore full skirts with a poodle silhouette printed on them. To be fair, though, she's been around for this year's comeback of full skirts and polka dots. Hugh will have to explain to Crystal that "Camelot" is not just a Broadway play, but the term applied to the presidency of John F. Kennedy by his wife, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. Camelot,of course, originally referred to the seat of the court of the King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table; it has come to mean a period of idyllic happiness. (credit:AP)

When Hugh Hefner was nearing 40, the group appearing on stage and in films in the early 1960s known as the Rat Pack -- Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop -- were known as the coolest cats of all time. Sinatra, Martin and Davis were regarded as the group's lead members. Of course, Crystal Harris can still enjoy the Rat Pack tribute show that's hit theaters around the country this year. (credit:AP)

When Crystal Harris was a young girl, you can bet she wasn't asking for a Princess phone for Christmas. Cordless phones have been around since the early 1970s -- or since more than 10 years before Harris was born. (credit:Target.com)
