"Good Morning America" looked back at Buckingham Palace's famous balcony moments, from 1953 when Elizabeth became queen to its recent (Hollywood set) appearance in "The King's Speech" -- and, of course, Prince Charles and Diana's impromptu kiss after their 1981 wedding.

Royal make-out expert Barbara Walters explained, "With Charles and Diana, by the way, that was the first time there was a kiss on the balcony because the people said we want you to kiss. It was very quick, it was almost embarrassed, after all, she'd only met him 13 times before they got married. Five years later Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, big kiss, big smooch compared to Diana, the marriage still didn't make it. But now, this couple has been living together. They know each other, they love each other, so it doesn't matter how much they smooch or don't smooch, does it?"

William and Kate are slated to make their balcony debut as newlyweds at 1:25 p.m. London time on Friday, so 8:25 a.m. EST.
