Lily Cole: I Didn't Want To Become The Model/Actress Cliche
|

Vogue UK caught up with model Lily Cole who recently nabbed lead the role in Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull" at Cambridge University. But the 22-year-old said her success hasn't come without a few hurdles -- namely the idea of adding "slash-actress" to her title. And who isn't a "model-slash-actress" these days? (Us.) (You.) (Maybe two or three more people.)

Cole told the glossy:

"I think it projects that whole model/actor cliché -- and that put me off becoming an actress for a while despite that being my passion since I was really, really young. So to an extent I think that it might present a little bit of an obstacle but that said, on the flip side of the coin, I'm not so naive to the fact that it has also really helped me. I have a profile to be able to get the auditions and to perhaps have more options than if I had never modelled.

On a lighter note, the redhead explained why she chose to dye her locks darker: it was actually for a film shoot last fall. She added, "It's just semi-permanent so once I have done that I think I will probably go back -- when the sun starts coming out! I was thinking of going blonde too!"
