Besides BRCA 1 and 2 mutations, there are other factors which increase a woman's risk of developing a breast or ovarian cancer.
It is important to seek out health professionals, genetic counselors or doctors who are qualified to identify these and advise how to lower one's risk. In additional to surgical prevention there are medical strategies such as the use of anti-estrogens and there are research programs focused on earlier detection such as utilizing Breast MRI.
