TripAdvisor has announced its inaugural Travelers' Choice Restaurant Awards. A total of 576 restaurants in the world were honored, based on millions of traveler reviews and opinions, according to TripAdvisor.
The awards aren't simply a list of the #1 ranked restaurants in various cities. For example, in New York, Eleven Madison Park has received the highest ranking, but Le Bernardin -- ranked #4 -- was given the Travelers' Choice honor. TripAdvisor cites service and quality as the common thread across all winners. Several U.S. restaurants also ranked high on the overall list of favorite restaurants across the world -- Le Bernardin (New York), Restaurant Gary Danko (San Francisco), Le Cirque Bellagio (Las Vegas), Girl & The Goat (Chicago) and Toulouse Petit (Seattle).
