With food truck fever continuing the sweep the nation there are now trendy mobile eateries that serve everything from cupcakes to sushi to on-the-go consumers. Throngs of restaurants do their best to serve locally sourced ingredients and support local food artisans, but Lulu's Local Eatery takes the concept a step further by using herbs and fruits harvested on the roof of their food truck. And the Roving Mammoth in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. is constructed on top of a Snowcat so that it can offer slope-side burritos to skiers even under the harshest conditions.

Ever imagine ordering a brick-oven pizza from a truck? The pizzaiolos behind Del Popolo in San Francisco created one of the first mobile pizza ovens in the country, and designed stunning floor-to-ceiling windows so customers can watch their food being prepared. And for the country's smallest food truck venture to Austin, where Verts is serving up Berlin-inspired döner kebap from a smart car food truck.

Roving Mammoth – Mammoth Lakes, Calif.(01 of08)

The Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. offers a variety of dining options for visitors, including a café at the peak of the mountain and barbecue shack. But perhaps the most intriguing dining option available at the resort is the Roving Mammoth, a food truck crafted atop a snowcat that can tackle the icy terrain of the mountain. Del Popolo – San Francisco(02 of08)

Apart from being visually stunning, this food truck from the former pizzaiolo of the acclaimed Flour + Water in San Francisco is one of the first to offer a wood-burning mobile pizza oven. The truck is crafted out of a twenty-food transatlantic shipping container that’s been fitted with glass windows and doors on one side so that diners can watch their pizza being made. Located in a renovated school bus, Le Truc offers locally sourced high-end gastro pub fare to hungry San Franciscans.
