Jon Stewart Mocks CNN's Branded News Segments (VIDEO)

If you've been paying attention to CNN the past few months, you may have noticed a lot more segments with catchy names floating around. Suddenly your favorite hour-long block of news programming is divided into tiny five minute clip reels with titles like "Face Time" and "Your 15 Minutes Are Up!"

Well Jon Stewart has certainly noticed, and he took the time on Tuesday night's "Daily Show" to set the record straight with a little segment called "Why?"

His main beef was with the fact that, for the most part, the titles are completely arbitrary and often unrelated to the content that follows. A girl who escaped her kidnappers was named "Rockstar of the Day," a title also held by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and a little boy who can do flips on his skateboard.

Stewart said he was all for the jazzing up the 24-hour news cycle with some fun segments, but that the network needed to step up their game in terms of actually making them substantive.

"When you have all these segments, you have to apply some editorial discretion when you use them," he joked.
