Stephen Colbert Urges His Viewers To Go Watch Jimmy Kimmel

“It’s an absolutely beautiful, heartfelt story."

Stephen Colbert did something very unusual for a late-night talk show host: He urged his viewers to watch one of his rivals.

“Last night was one of the rare times I did not just watch our show,” Colbert said on Tuesday. “I also watched our dear friend Jimmy Kimmel.”

On Monday night, Kimmel delivered an emotional and tear-filled monologue about his infant son’s open-heart surgery, which he turned into a plea for basic health care for all Americans.

“Please go watch it,” Colbert told his “Late Show” viewers. “It’s an absolutely beautiful, heartfelt story. And it’s a call for all people to have access to the same quality healthcare because it is a basic human need and an aspect of our dignity as citizens of the United States.”
