The U.K. is getting in on the flash mob action. Or at least its tourism arm is.

Earlier this week, men and women, dressed as such British icons as Sir Elton John, the Beatles, David Beckham and, um, Harry Potter and the Spice Girls, broke out into dance in the food court at Vancouver's International Airport to "Jumpstart" by These Kids Wear Crowns.

The flash mob was produced by the GREAT campaign, which is meant to remind people just how awesome Great Britain is -- as if we would have a hard time remembering what with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics happening this summer.

Not coincidentally, Sir Richard Branson launched Vancouver to London service this week on his Virgin Atlantic this week.

Flash mobs are becoming a thing to do in otherwise dreary airports, it seems. In March 2011, a flash mob broke out in the duty-free section of the Beirut airport. Then in April, WORLD ORDER performed at a Japanese airport to promote solidarity after the devastating earthquake and tsunami there. Last November, a flash mob took over Dubai's duty-free area. That same month, dancers with Denver's Community-Minded Dance performed a medley of Swing classics at Denver Airport's Great Hall on the day before Thanksgiving, perhaps to cheer up weary holiday travelers .
