Let Your GPS Guide You Within

For me, my real inner peace is achieved elsewhere. It comes with quiet, alone time. I think once you can appreciate life's beauty, you can start to appreciate your own inner beauty.

I use all of the traditional methods to quiet my mind, body and soul: yoga, meditation, exercise and so on, but I find that I am not a traditional woman and sometimes what works for others doesn't always work for me. I do it anyway because it makes me feel good, but I cannot always say that it gives me any inner peace. In fact, often I find myself frustrated at yoga or during meditation because my mind wanders to the millions of other things I need to get done before I can really rest.

Relaxation is, as all things truly are, an inside job. My classes are great, and I wouldn't miss them. If they work for you, do them! For me, my real inner peace is achieved elsewhere. It comes with quiet, alone time. I take a walk by the water or watch the dogs play in the dog park. Once I settle down enough to appreciate life's beauty, I sit with myself. I think once you can appreciate life's beauty, you can start to appreciate your own inner beauty.

I find that once I relax and quiet all that noise that permanently resides in my head, the answers that once baffled me start to become very clear. When I really listen to and believe in myself, I always know the next right thing. If I allow myself to become bogged down with the daily craziness that can sometimes consume us all, or I listen to too many outside opinions, I will sometimes make a choice that is not in my own best interest. I know what the right thing is for me, but if I don't follow my internal GPS, I'm bound to get lost.
