Jon Stewart Explains When It's OK To Shoot People Who've Offended You
|

The shooting in Texas over cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad had "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart going over some common sense rules about when it's acceptable to shoot people who've offended you.

The answer of course is never. But clearly, not everyone has received the message.

"I can't believe we have to reiterate this," Stewart said on Monday night's show. “It is not okay to shoot other people because you are offended by what they draw. Even if they drew it to offend you -- no shooting of them.”

As he spoke, "Daily Show" correspondents popped up from under his desk to offer suggestions on when it just might be OK to shoot someone.

"What if I really don't like them?" Jessica Williams asked.

"What if I haven't shot anyone in a really long time?" wondered Jordan Klepper.

"What if it's deer hunting season, and I really thought that cartoon contest was a deer?" asked Williams.

Each time, Stewart stuck to his (metaphorical) guns.

"You cannot shoot people because you don't share their opinions," he said.

But Stewart also had some words for the Texas event's organizers, Pamela Geller and her American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), which has repeatedly tried to provoke and offend Muslims in the name of free speech.

“AFDI is a First Amendment group the same way people from Philly are sports fans,” Stewart said. “Ostensibly, they like sports. But really they’re just looking for an excuse to punch a stranger and pour beer on someone’s baby.”
