Some celebrities have a difficult time staying out of the spotlight, especially in highly dramatic situations. Famous faces like Lindsay Lohan never manage to escape hovering paparazzi.

While some celebrity meltdowns are minor, others can be so severe that a celeb's reputation is permanently damaged. 2012 featured frequent dramatic outbursts and incidents from celebrities like Chris Brown, Amanda Bynes and many more. And while this past year was rife with celebrity freakouts, hysteria and unexpected outbursts of anger, we can look forward to even more in 2013.

In October, footage surfaced that saw Minaj blowing up at fellow "American Idol" judge Mariah Carey. "Every time you patronize me, I'm-ma take it back, and if you've got a f**king problem, handle it," the "Starships" rapper was heard ranting."I told them I'm not f**kin' putting up with her f**king highness over there. In November, the controversial R&B singer hurled a series of vulgar insults at comedy writer Jenny Johnson when she retweeted his self-deprecating observation, " I look old as fuck! I'm only 23...," with the reply "I know! Being a worthless piece of shit can really age a person." And back in February, when many took issue with the decision to let Brown perform at the Grammys because of his 2009 assault in Rihanna, Brown lashed out at his critics on Twitter, proclaiming, "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now!" While self-described retired multimillionaire Bynes recently told Us Weekly, "I'm not 'troubled'," it's no surprise some might have thought otherwise based on her behavior over the past year. In addition to a DUI arrest and multiple hit-and-runs, Bynes has reportedly engaged in other erratic antics, such as locking herself in a dressing room and disrupting a cycling class. (credit:AP)

While 2012 was supposed to herald Lindsay's acting comeback with her starring role in "Liz & Dick," she's experienced far more drama off-screen. In June, paramedics were called when Lohan was found non-responsive in a California hotel room, but her rep later explained she was suffering from "exhaustion and dehydration." Then in September, she was arrested after tapping a pedestrian with her Porsche and fleeing the scene. And in November, after a spat with a fellow patron at Manhattan's Club Avenue, Lindsay was arrested and charged with third-degree assault. (credit:AP)
