Hours before David Bowie's death was announced on Sunday, Iman, his wife of almost 24 years, shared a touching quote with her followers on Instagram.
"The struggle is real, but so is God," the image read.
She added the simple caption, "Rise."
On Saturday, the supermodel shared another quote: "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory."
On Bowie's birthday, Jan. 8, Iman used Instagram to celebrate her husband's special day. She shared a variety of different photos of Bowie, many of which were posted by his fans.
Bowie died on Sunday at the age of 69 following an 18-month battle with cancer. The announcement was made on the music icon's official social media accounts and Bowie's rep confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter. He died just two days after his birthday.
Along with Iman, Bowie is survived by the couple's daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, and his son Duncan Jones, from his marriage to Angie Bowie (née Mary Angela Barnett).
