"So You Think You Can Dance" judge Mary Murphy is no stranger to extreme on-camera emotion, known as much for her tearful responses to contestant dances as she is for her screechingly loud "hot tamale train" outbursts.

But she told HuffPost Live host Ahmed Shihab-Eldin that it wasn't always easy.

"The very first time that I cried on camera, I was so embarrassed, and just felt like, 'Oh my gosh, I can't believe I just did that." Murphy said that she changed her tune when viewers wrote saying how much they agreed with her and she realized the power that dance has to connect people from all over the world.
