"Cowboys & Aliens" may have Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde, but that may not be enough to win the box office this weekend over "The Smurfs."
The animated flick already topped the box office on Friday, making a weekend win for the little blue guys a real possibility.
"The Smurfs" brought in an estimated $13.3 million Friday, with "Cowboys & Aliens" making just $13 million. Though it's a small difference as of now, the kids flick is slated to win the weekend after Saturday totals come in, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wilde recently talked to MTV about "Cowboys & Aliens" and its all-star leading cast.
"We have an incredibly well-filled out cast, and I think that's why the movie feels very well seasoned. Everybody is taken into account. There's no minor character," she said. "And I think that is thanks to [director] Jon Favreau who really knows how to make a movie feel really full and grounded and good."
While Wilde may have Ford and Craig on her side, "Smurfs" star Neil Patrick Harris has a whole team of little blue friends in the film aimed at making the entire family happy.
"This is a family movie but skewed an awful lot towards the core audience of people who watched the Smurfs growing up. The 20-40-year-old set is supposed to get a lot out of it as opposed for it just being for kids. They go from "happy happy" Smurf village to Central Park, New York City, so there's a lot of juxtaposition between angry New Yorkers and happy Smurfs," Harris told Moviefone.
