As Zayn Malik has said, relationships can be a paradise and a war zone, and it looks like the paradise period has ended for him and model and reality TV star Gigi Hadid.
The couple, who began fueling romance rumors back in November 2015 when they were spotted leaving the American Music Awards together, have called it quits, according to E! News. People and TMZ also reported the news.
A source told E! that Hadid and Malik fought during the model's birthday and added that they've "broken up and got back together a few times."
A different source also confirmed the breakup but told E! that there's a chance the young couple will get back together.
"Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It's all very unclear what's going on between them now," the source said. "They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along."
The source continued, "Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out. It's more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses, and they did get very close."

Throughout the course of their seven-month relationship, Hadid, 21, and Malik, 23, definitely made their relationship public.
After popping up on each others' Instagram accounts, Hadid appeared in her beau's steamy music video for "Pillowtalk." Then, in March of this year, the former One Directioner officially confirmed their relationship during a radio interview with Zach Sang & the Gang.
In the months following, Hadid and Malik showed off their picture-perfect romance with a PDA-filled spread in Vogue and later made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2016 Met Gala.
Only time will tell if the pair decides to kiss and make up, but in the meantime, we're betting Hadid will call on BFFs like Kendall Jenner and Taylor Swift, who also just went through a breakup, for some much needed #squad time.
