'Rainbow Brite' Rides Again!
|

Good news, '80s kids. The future is looking "Brite."

The 1980s cartoon "Rainbow Brite" is now coming back in a brand new series courtesy of the video on demand service Feeln, reports EW. Emily Osment will voice Brite while Molly Ringwald will voice her nemesis, the Dark Princess.

The series will reunite Rainbow Brite with her talking horse as they attempt to save Rainbowland, but this time it looks like they'll need all the rainbow belts and star sprinkles they can get.

The new series is set to begin in early November. For more, check out the trailer:

Young Celebs If They Were Cartoon Characters
Ed Sheeran / Chuckie Finster, 'Rugrats'(01 of13)
Open Image Modal
Ed Sheeran is a dead ringer for Chuckie Finster from Rugrats. Like Chuckie, Ed is famous for his wild red hair. Both boys are also soft-spoken and sentimental, making them a perfect match. (credit:Alamy/Nickelodeon)
Ke$ha / Debbie Thornberry(02 of13)

If Ke$ha was stuck in an RV with a sister who talked to animals and a brother who acted like a wild animal, we bet she would react just the way Debbie Thornberry did: lots of eye-rolling. The two blondes share a hairstyle and a party-girl attitude. (credit:Getty/Nickelodeon)
Zayn Malik / Jimmy Neutron(03 of13)

True, Zayn might not have Jimmy Neutron's genius IQ and Jimmy might not have Zayn's voice, but they share one important characteristic: major, gravity-defying hair. (credit:Getty/Nickelodeon)
Katy Perry / Betty Boop(04 of13)

Katy Perry and Betty Boop have a ton in common: they share famously flirtatious personalities, dark hair and red lips, an hourglass figure, and vintage style. (credit:AP/Betty Boop)
Taylor Swift / Sailor Moon(05 of13)

Between their long, blonde hair, blue eyes, and vintage-style dresses, Taylor Swift and Sailor Moon could be twins. Beyond just looks, Taylor and Sailor Moon are both diehard romantics with sweet, laidback personalities. (credit:Alamy/Kodansha Comics USA)
Rupert Grint / Arnold(06 of13)

Lanky and red-headed, Arnold from The Magic Schoolbus could easily be another Weasley brother from Harry Potter. Just like Arnold, Rupert's Potter character, Ron, is brave but not particularly motivated in school. (credit:Shutterstock/Scholastic)
Emma Stone / Kim Possible(07 of13)

Emma Stone has mastered the teen movie (Superbad), the action movie (The Amazing Spider-Man), the period piece (The Help), and more. Most young actresses would call that impossible, but not Emma -- which is why Kim Possible is her cartoon alter ego. (credit:Alamy/Disney Channel)
Niall Horan / Spongebob Squarepants(08 of13)

While Niall and Spongebob couldn't lead more different lives, they have a surprising amount in common: bright blue eyes, a penchant for white collared shirts, a witty sense of humor, and lots of friends. (credit:Getty/Nickelodeon)
Kristen Stewart / Jane from 'Daria'(09 of13)

Daria's Jane Lane is artistic and a bit cynical, just like Kristen Stewart. The girls dress similarly, too -- Jane's ever-present combat boots are the 90s version of Kristen's dedication to Converse. (credit:AP/MTV)
Amber Riley / Penny(10 of13)

Penny loves to sing, so it's a no-brainer to pair her up with one of the most incredible set of pipes around -- Amber Riley. And just like straight-A Penny, Amber describes herself as "genius" and "intelligent." (credit:Getty/Disney Channel)
Chris Colfer / Arthur(11 of13)

Just like the lovable aardvark Arthur, Chris Colfer is a bookworm who's passionate about helping others. Colfer wrote the script for the movie Struck By Lightning (out January 2013) and a New York Times bestselling children's book, The Land of Stories. He's also an avid supporter of LGBT youth. Arthur and Glee share plenty of similar themes, too, like embracing diversity and growing up. (credit:AP/WGBH)
Jennette McCurdy / Sandy Cheeks(12 of13)

With her country-pop guitar skills, round cheeks, and energetic charm, Jennette McCurdy is a perfect match for Sandy Cheeks from Spongebob. In this photo, they're even rocking similar floral hair accessories. (credit:Getty/Nickelodeon)
Bella Thorne / Princess Bubblegum(13 of13)

While Bella may not be literally composed of candy, se's just as sweet as Adventure Time's Princess Bubblegum. While Princess Bubblegum rules over the Candy Kingdom, Bella is a different kind of royalty -- her loyal subjects are her fans. Both girls love to dress in pink. (credit:Alamy/Cartoon Network)
