"The Office" cast wants to stay put, according to series star Jenna Fischer. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fischer said everybody -- including John Krasinski and Ed Helms -- wants to come back for a Season 9. The only catch? NBC hasn't renewed the long-running comedy.
"The whole cast, I'm talking about everybody -- Ed [Helms], John [Krasinski], me, everyone -- is wanting to come back," she told THR. "So it's really just a matter of NBC pulling the trigger."
Rumors have swirled about a cast exodus and possible reboot for weeks. James Spader will depart at the end of Season 8 and contracts for key players Fischer, Helms, B.J. Novak and Krasinski are up.
Additionally, Rainn Wilson is attached to star in an "Office" spinoff pilot following his Dwight Schrute character. "The Office" showrunner Paul Lieberstein could leave the series if the Wilson-fronted spinoff goes to series.
Plus, writer/actress Mindy Kaling shot a pilot for Fox and Helms will guest star in Kaling's pilot as a possibly love interest for her character.
