'NCIS': Ducky Takes The Lead On The Latest Case

It was perhaps inevitable, but fans of "NCIS" were able to breathe a sigh of relief. Ducky had been struggling on the sidelines, but had to reluctantly admit that his temporary replacement was doing an admirable job. When he was called in on a case for what he took as pity, Ducky evaluated for a moment whether he even wanted to come back. But would he belong really anywhere else?

He really got a chance to shine in this episode, taking point on a cold case investigation that had been ruled an accident, but that Ducky felt was anything but. And then it tied in with the current case-of-the-week, but Ducky -- still not cleared for active duty -- in the center of all the action.

In the end, the team got their man, and Ducky got the news he hadn't even realized he'd wanted for so long. He was cleared to return to work, and he gladly accepted the opportunity to dig back into his work. As Ziva said, "We are finally whole again."

The reunited team takes on new cases on "NCIS" every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
