After another turbulent season of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" (Mon., 9 p.m. EST on Bravo), the women gathered around Andy Cohen for the obligatory reunion special. With the specter of Russell Armstrong's suicide looming over the entire season, it was no surprise when Bravo commissioned three parts to this reunion special. But Cohen wasted no time getting to that topic, hitting it in this first hour.
He asked the women in the room what their first reaction was upon finding that Russell had committed suicide. Their responses ranged from shock to disbelief. Taylor Armstrong talked about how that moment consumed her.
"At the time I couldn't even focus on the show," she said. "And to be honest at that point it didn't even matter to me, because I was suffering a tremendous loss."
In the end, she obviously did agree to allow the show to move forward, even directly addressing the abuse in the Armstrong marriage and its eventual dissolution. In fact, she admitted that part of the reason she agreed to do the show in the first place was her hope that by being public figures with cameras all around, the abuse might stop. Or maybe it would push them toward divorce.
Brandi Glanville won't join the reunion special until next week, and for now no one has discussed Kim Richards' substance abuse problems. Previews have shown her admitting to being an alcoholic, but viewers will have to tune in over the next two weeks to hear more about it.
