In 2008, Madonna directed "Filth and Wisdom," a comedy about three roommates living together in a London flat. For her next film, she's taking a very big step up.

The singer/activist/actress is preparing to debut her second feature film, "W.E.," the story of King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, the woman for whom he left the throne. You may remember the event from last year's film, "The King Speech," but Madonna's picture is less war and more love story.

James D'Arcy plays King Edward, while Andrea Riseborough takes on the role of the twice divorced American Simpson. Abbie Cornish, meanwhile, is the true protagonist, as the story is told through the eyes of her character, Wally Winthrop.
