Britney Spears Asks For 'Wishes And Prayers' Following Niece's Serious ATV Accident

The 8-year-old is in reportedly stable condition.

Britney Spears addressed niece Maddie Aldridge’s hospitalization in a short note to her Twitter followers Monday. The 8-year-old daughter of her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, was involved in an ATV accident in a pond that reportedly left her unconscious on Sunday.

“Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece,” the singer wrote alongside a cute photo of Maddie and a four-legged friend.

According to a police report obtained by People, Maddie was steering an ATV in view of her mother and stepfather when she overcorrected a turn, steering herself into a pond. Immediate attempts to rescue her were foiled by her seatbelt and the vehicle’s safety netting until medical professionals showed up, the report states.

Contrary to an earlier TMZ report, she was not on a “hunting expedition” away from her mother, former star of Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101.”

The 8-year-old is currently in “stable but critical” condition at a New Orleans hospital, according to E! News

Jamie Spears, father of Jamie Lynn and Britney, told Entertainment Tonight shortly after the incident, “All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie.”
