On "Duets" (Thu., 8 p.m. ET on ABC) it's as much about successfully being able to partner vocally than it is about the voice alone. That could explain why a very talented singer wound up the first eliminated. It wasn't for lack of talent, but rather a lack of vocal chemistry with their partner.

It was a tough night for Robin Thicke, who found himself singing Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" with partner Olivia Chisolm. He chose the song to try and help her find her inner diva, and maybe some confidence as well. Instead, Thicke quickly proved why he didn't go into hip hop, while Olivia just couldn't live up to the original. PopCrush called it a "nuclear hot mess."

But Thicke and Chisolm came through the performance with enough support from the other judges to avoid elimination. Unfortunately, he didn't have as much success with an awkward partnership on "Killing Me Softly" with his other contestant, Alexis Foster.

She found herself in the bottom two with Jason Farol, who found confidence on "Hallalujah" with Kelly Clarkson, but it just wasn't strong enough to avoid the bottom two. After an a cappella battle, though, Farol did manage to convince the judges to keep him over Foster, giving "Duets" it's first elimination after three weeks.

We're more intrigued by the unabashed "Voice" rip-off "The Choice," which sees celebrities such as DJ Pauly D, Romeo, Jeremy Bloom and Jason Cook take to the spinning chairs to choose attractive singles to take on a date, sight unseen. It kind of ignores "The Voice's" central premise, since all of the single contestants are supposedly attractive and thus not in need of a blind audition, but it should have some novelty value.
