THE BACHELORETTE - 'Episode 901' - On the premiere, 'Episode 901,' Desiree begins her Cinderella journey when Chris Harrison welcomes her to her new home, a cliffside Malibu estate, and gives her the keys to a brand new Bentley convertible. Her transformation is complete as she slips into a stunning silvery confection of a gown fit for a princess. At the mansion, Desiree's anxiety falls away as her 25 eager suitors catch their first glimpse of her: One nervous guy tries to sweep her off her feet with a romantic dance move, but falls flat; a sleight-of-hand artist makes something special magically appear for Desiree; a hunky oil rig worker puts his amazing abs on display straight off; still another hopeful Prince Charming goes to the other extreme, showing up in a medieval suit of armor. But the one who steals her heart is the youngest bachelor ever to step out of a limo -- a four-year-old boy who is followed by his proud, single dad, in the ninth edition of 'The Bachelorette,' the female version of ABC's hit romance reality series, premiering MONDAY, MAY 27 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. As Season 9 of the "The Bachelorette" comes to a close, we sit back and reflect on all the time we spent watching love blossom and crumble in the name of Chris Harrison.

The franchise, which had a ratings boost last year, expanded its episodes from one hour to two in 2008, and we began to wonder, "What the hell could we have done with all the time we spent watching this show?"

We tallied up all the air time we gave the bachelorettes over the years (don't get us started on the 17 seasons of "The Bachelor") and crunched some numbers to figure out what we could or should have done with 6.54 days or 157 hours.

1. You could have taken the longest flight in the world, from Singapore to Newark, nine times.
With seven hours to spare, you also could have spent an afternoon in Singapore or stopped for dinner at Newark's Chili's Too.

3. Driven from New York City to Anchorage, Alaska, and back with seven hours left over. (Stop and see Mount Rushmore!)

4. Watched almost every movie that won an Academy Award for Best Picture.
With 85 winners, you'd have to skip only a few.

5. Done Insanity, the workout plan designed to make you look like the Hulk, three times with 17.5 hours left over.

6. Gone to Burning Man for six and a half days.

7. Watched every episode of "The Wire" and "The Sopranos."
A different kind of TV.

8. Listened to the Beatles' entire discography 12 times.

9. A family of four could have gotten SCUBA certified.

10. Taken an MCAT prep course with an entire day left over to study by yourself. You'd ace the test.

12. Read "Infinite Jest." (Just kidding, you'll never finish that.)

14. Walked from Berlin to Budapest.
On the way you would pass through the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

15. Watched Wendy Davis' 11-hour filibuster 14 times.

16. Watched every film and read every book in the "Harry Potter" series twice.

Or you could have just relived every magical moment of "The Bachelorette."

(Too bad they broke up.)

On Jan. 24, it was officially revealed that Emily Maynard would be the next "Bachelorette," premiering on ABC in the spring of 2012. The 25-year-old former contestant on "The Bachelor" -- who split from Season 15 "Bachelor" Brad Womack in July 2011 -- is the show's first single mom. (credit:ABC)

The 28-year-old winemaker had his heart broken on "The Bachelorette" when his marriage proposal to Ashley Hebert was rejected during the seventh season finale of the reality series. But he bounded back to become the 16th "Bachelor" and he's currently looking for love on ABC. (credit:ABC)

Jason was the runner-up on Season 4 of "The Bachelorette" and then became "The Bachelor" in its 13th season. He proposed to Melissa Rycroft and then revealed that he still loved the runner-up, Molly Malaney. Apparently, he stuck with his second choice: Mesnick and Malaney's wedding aired in a two-hour special called "The Bachelor: Jason and Molly's Wedding" in March 2010. (credit:Getty)

Melissa Rycroft was the first woman that Jason Mesnick proposed to before ditching her for Molly. (Remember when that drama went down?) She went on to capitalize on being a woman scorned with a contract to be on "Dancing With the Stars," which made her a bit more famous and led to lucrative deals for the sales of photos of her wedding to Tye Strickland and growing family (the couple currently has a one-year-old daughter, Ava Grace Strickland). For nearly a decade, Trista Rehn has been extending her 15 minutes from her time spent on the debut season of "The Bachelor" in 2002. She next went on to become the first-ever "Bachelorette" and received $1 million from ABC to televise her wedding to firefighter Ryan Sutter. She has since appeared in a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial, a Brad Paisley video and on "Dancing With the Stars." She recently became a quasi-spokeswoman for the permanent birth control, Essure. On a more positive note, she and Sutter have used their fame to promote various causes including the American Heart Association. (credit:Getty)

Vienna Girardi and Jake Pavelka were probably the most fame-whorey of all former "Bachelor" couples -- and we say that with love. Though the couple split up in June 2010, both have found ways to keep their names in the headlines... (credit:Getty)
