Trying to take advantage of all those eyeballs watching the London Olympics, NBC tossed them a sneak peek at their new fall season with a preview episode of the new Matthew Perry vehicle "Go On" (Wed., 11 p.m. ET on NBC). Those who stuck around to watch it were treated to a very familiar Perry, channeling a lot of what made Chandler Big a hit on "Friends," in the center of a single-camera comedy with an eclectic ensemble.
HuffPost TV's Mo Ryan says it compares closely to "Community" -- only this one's in a "life transitions" support group, which inherently makes for a darker setting.
On the show, Perry plays a sports radio host who is trying to get back to work after his wife's death, but must first complete group grief counseling.
Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker saw a lot to like in Perry's performance, writing that this preview encouraged him to stick around for at least a few episodes.
"Go On" officially premieres in the fall on Tuesday, September 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
