'Mad Men': 'Set Me Free' Mashup Salutes Show's Female Characters (VIDEO)

Awesome 'Mad Men' Mashup: 'Set Me Free'
|

The highly-anticipated Season 5 premiere of "Mad Men" is only days away, and the show's return is inspiring an outpouring of online creativity. One of the most impressive offerings is a mashup that skillfully edits the dialogue spoken by the women of "Mad Men" together with "You Keep Me Hangin' On" by The Supremes.

The mashup, created by Marc Faletti and Elisa Kreisinger, is awesome for several reasons. They've spliced the video together so expertly that Joan, Betty and Peggy seem to almost be singing the lyrics of the song.

The two components complement each other seamlessly: the women of "Mad Men" are constantly striving to assert their independence in the workplace and in their relationships, while the song's lyrics also emphasize female empowerment.

The connections run deeper than that, too. "You Keep Me Hangin' On" was recorded in 1966, the same year that Season 6 of "Mad Men" begins.
