Patrick Stewart Is Taking On His Crappiest Role Yet

The "Star Trek" actor is voicing the character of Poop in the upcoming "The Emoji Movie."

Patrick Stewart’s latest role is not to be sniffed at.

The legendary English actor will voice the character of Poop ― the poo emoji ― in the upcoming “The Emoji Movie.”

Sony Pictures announced the news via Twitter on Wednesday:

The Late Late Show” host James Corden, “Silicon Valley” actor T.J. Miller and Jennifer Coolidge from “2 Broke Girls” will join the “X-Men” star in voicing characters in the animated film, which is slated for an Aug. 4 release.

Stewart has not commented on the role, which some fans may see as a radical departure from his more serious parts, like William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek.” But Stewart also has a wealth of comedy experience, having narrated “Ted” and its sequel, voiced various “Family Guy” characters and spoofed himself in Ricky Gervais’Extras.”
