Kristin Chenoweth Has To Eat Sea Urchin On 'The Tonight Show,' And She Hates It (VIDEO)

Kristin Chenoweth Eats Sea Urchin And Hates It

Kristin Chenoweth had to eat her words on "The Tonight Show," and we mean that quite literally. She hates seafood, but had an old bet with Jay Leno that she would try sushi if Leno wrote a check to her charity, Maddie's Corner. Well, Leno had never written that check -- until she was sitting opposite him on the show.

He handed her a check for $500 and then followed it up by immediately pulling out some sea urchine for her to try. If fans thought her face was filled with expression during her stage performances, they hadn't seen anything compared to her reaction faces to this cuisine.

"That’s the most ... why would anyone pay for that? It’s offensive!" she said after sampling some.

For being a good sport and playing along, Leno did double his donation to Maddie's Corner to an even $1,000. The charity, which is named after Chenoweth's dog, helps to rescue and shelter dogs, as well as educate people on "responsible dog ownership."

Tune in for more surprises on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
