Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable on "The Cosby Show," appeared on BET's "The Real" this week to talk about his legally embattled TV dad. After acknowledging how eliminating reruns of the popular sitcom is "literally taking money out of my pocket," the actor turned on media coverage of Bill Cosby.
More than 50 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault in incidents that span decades. Warner compared those alleged crimes to that of filmmakers Woody Allen, Roman Polanski and Stephen Collins -- all accused of sexually assaulting minors -- and labeled Cosby's treatment in the media "unbalanced."
"It's very clear the crimes they've committed, but there's no one who's calling for Woody's movies to be pulled off the air," Warner said. "I am in no position to defend [Cosby], because I can't."
"Nor will I throw him under the bus," he added.
Cosby is currently embroiled in a criminal sexual assault charge from Andrea Constand in a Pennsylvania court. The comedian also faces defamation suits filed by model Janice Dickinson, among other women, arguing that their reputations have been damaged by Cosby publicly denying their claims.
