Best Actor nominees at the 85th annual Academy Awards include Daniel Day-Lewis and Hugh Jackman.
The "Lincoln" star was expected to earn a nomination for playing Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's film. He's favored to win what would be his third Best Actor trophy at the Oscars on Feb. 24.
Hugh Jackman was nominated for playing Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables." It's Jackman's first Academy Award nomination.
Day-Lewis and Jackman were joined in the category by Denzel Washington ("Flight"), Bradley Cooper ("Silver Linings Playbook") and Joaquin Phoenix ("The Master"). Most had expected John Hawkes ("The Sessions") to be nominated in this category, but he missed the cut.
Last year, Jean Dujardin ("The Artist") won Best Actor, defeating George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman and Demian Bichir.
