While "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" took a while to get started, its Spidey star, Reeve Carney, doesn't seem like he'll have any trouble sticking around in the future.
Deadline reports that Carney has signed on to play Jeff Buckley in Jake Scott's untitled film about the singer-songwriter.
Though Buckley died at the young at of 30 -- just as his solo career was taking off -- there have been three films about him. Scott's film, however, endeavors to be the end-all be-all Buckley biopic.
The untitled project has exclusive rights to all of the singer's music and personal archives, including the go-ahead from Sony to cover Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"--perhaps his most well-known ditty. Adding further credibility, Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, is executive producer on the project.
While portraying a musical legend is no easy feat, Scott had no doubts that Carney was the man for the job. He described him as "the perfect combination of musical prodigy, impish charm, innate intelligence and sensitivity to play Jeff." The Broadway star will also perform Buckley's beloved, melancholy tunes.
