The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, a Brooklyn-based band with twang similar to The Cure, recently announced its third album, "Days of Abandon." The group joined HuffPost Live to jam for a few songs, then lead singer Kip Berman discussed the band's new tunes.
Berman told HuffPost Live that the band recorded the new album in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, out of his friend's home studio. The producer, Andy Savours, also worked on My Bloody Valentine's most recent album, "MBV." Berman said The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart cranked out the entire album in just one month.
"We took a month, we made a record, we recorded 10 songs and put them out there in the world, so hopefully people like it," Berman said.
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have been together since 2007 and are currently touring all over the world. Berman said that much like Kurt Cobain, he has gotten a lot of his musical inspiration from 1980s bands out of Glasgow, Scotland, including The Vaselines and Belle and Sebastian.
