Drew Barrymore has released a statement following news that her half-sister was found dead in California.

Jessica Barrymore, 47, was found dead outside San Diego, California, in National City on Tuesday, July 29, NBC's KNSD station reported.

The actress released a statement to E! News, saying: "Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss."

Jessica Barrymore was discovered inside a car that was blocking the driveway of a Hoover Avenue resident around 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, according to ABC affiliate KGTV. Firefighters responded and found her dead, the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office confirmed. A cause of death has not been determined.
