She’s a talented singer, actress and the most-followed person on Instagram, but even Selena Gomez isn’t immune to a bad joke.

The 24-year-old star recently landed her first American Vogue cover for the magazine’s April issue. Vogue’s 73 Questions team swung by Gomez’s pad to do a rapid-fire interview. Selena spoke candidly about her fame, where she sees herself in 10 years and the best piece of advice she’s received. When asked to tell the worst joke she’d ever heard, she had a real doozy prepared.

“What did the pirate say on his 80th birthday?” Gomez asked. “Aye, matey!”

Go ahead, sound it out.

The joke is about as cringeworthy as they come, but we have to admit, Selena got a chuckle out of us.

The “It Ain’t Me” singer had some other juicy tidbits to share. Meryl Streep is her spirit animal, she can’t live without chocolate cake and she has one piece of advice for her 15-year-old self:

“Go ahead and do it, because you’re going to do it anyway,” Gomez chuckled.
