'Ruby Sparks' Trailer: Paul Dano Stars In Film From 'Little Miss Sunshine' Filmmakers (VIDEO)

Paul Dano's Manic Pixie Dream Girl Comes To Life In 'Ruby Sparks' Trailer

Zooey Deschanel, who? Say hello the ultimate manic pixie dream girl, Ruby Sparks.

In romantic indie comedy "Ruby Sparks," Paul Dano stars as a frustrated writer who creates a character named Ruby Sparks. However, it turns out that Ruby is more than just a fictional being when the unthinkable happens: Dano's ultimate MPDG comes to life. And that's not even the weird part. As his fictional creation, Dano's character can ultimately make her do anything he wants -- like speak fluent French! (Think: a more literary "Weird Science.")

Zoe Kazan, Dano's real-life girlfriend, wrote the screenplay and stars as Ruby. "Little Miss Sunshine" duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris directed the film, six years after making their directorial debut with 2006's "Sunshine." That film was nominated for Best Picture and won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

In other "Sunshine" reunion news, Steve Carell and Toni Collette will reunite for "Way, Way Back," an indie comedy that will shoot this summer.
