Mila Kunis appears like a graceful yet edgy ballerina in the breakout hit "Black Swan," but getting there was anything but easy.
Talking to W Magazine, the star said the training to get her from "not even able to lift my arm properly" to competitor for prima ballerina left her bruised and broken.
"I had never danced in my life," she admitted. "I trained for four months, seven days a week, five hours a day. I had one day off on my birthday. I lost 20 pounds. I tore a ligament. I dislocated my shoulder. I have two scars on my back. And it was worth every minute."
Of course it was -- the movie is a smash, and she scored a Golden Globe nomination. But don't expect to see her in a tutu any time soon. Or ever again.
"But I will never dance again. I'm a strong believer in mind over matter, but I didn't fully understand what that meant until this production."
At least she didn't have to dance as much as her co-star, Natalie Portman. The Oscar-nominee trained for a year before the film, getting so skinny and overworked that she thought she might die.
